Working for peace 365 days a year is an impossible task, but working for just one day of peace is achievable.
21st September is a platform for life saving activities worldwide, activities that often could not happen without the knowledge that, just for that one day, peace would prevail.
On Peace Day in 2007, Peace One Day was instrumental in securing the conditions needed to allow mass polio vaccinations to be carried out in Afghanistan; 1.4 million children were vaccinated in some of the most remote areas of the country.
And in 2008, an additional 1.6 million were treated. That’s an estimated 3 million children in Afghanistan alone - because of Peace Day.
And who knows, maybe one day can become two, in time?
