Starting on 17th September 2010, near to Aviemore in Scotland, Mark, Ian and Clive will climb five peaks in the Cairngorms, hoisting a flag on each. There will be one night camping in the hills, and then a return to Aviemore ready for the second stage of the challenge.

On 19th September, we’ll cycle from Aviemore to Fort William, a distance of about 70 miles, ready for stage three.

Starting on 20th September, and ending on 21st (Peace Day), again with a camp overnight, we’ll climb the remaining four peaks, raising our flag on each, and finishing on the summit of Ben Nevis.

All nine peaks are over 4000 feet high, and are the nine highest in the UK. The distance walked will be around 40 miles, with a total ascent of about 9,000 feet (more than half way up Everest from it’s base!), plus a 70 mile bike ride!

The alternative name for the event is 2 malts, 1 vodka, and 9 pints, because we expect to need that when we get home!
